Dixo

Try Dixo before launch

The Android beta is open: get the whole app, free, before anyone else. Three steps, five minutes.

The first run downloads 241 MB

Dixo scores your pronunciation with a speech model that runs entirely on your phone: nothing you say leaves the device. That model is downloaded once, the first time you open the app, and you can't use the app until it finishes. After that it works offline.

Before you start

How to join

Do these in order. If you open the testing link before joining the group, Play will tell you you're not a tester.

  1. Join the group

It's public: you join yourself, no approval needed.

    Join the group
  2. Opt in to the test

Use the same Google account you joined the group with.

Opt in to the test If Play says the test doesn't exist, it is still being published: try again a bit later.
  3. Install from Google Play and open the app

The model download starts on its own and shows you the progress. Let it finish.

If something goes wrong

Play says I'm not a tester

You're not in the group, or you opened the link with a different Google account. Go back to step 1 and check which account is signed in to the Play Store.

The app doesn't show up in Play

Usually propagation. Wait a while, clear the Play Store cache and try again.

The download failed

The network dropped. The app tells you and offers Retry: the download resumes where it left off, it doesn't start over.

It asks me to confirm over mobile data

You're on a metered network. It's 241 MB, so Wi-Fi is better, but you can continue if you want.

I don't have space

You need about 300 MB free. Free up space and try again.

Can I delete the model?

Yes, Settings has "Delete the download". But you go back to the blocking screen and have to download the 241 MB again.
